Barley Green is a Carboniferous sandstone from the Millstone Grit Group, formed approximately 320 million years ago during the Namurian stage of the Carboniferous Period. It was laid down in ancient river delta systems, producing dense, durable stone with excellent technical and visual properties. This geological formation gives Barley Green its fine to medium grain, interlocking quartz structure, and natural buff to grey-green tones. These characteristics contribute to its strength, long lifespan, and reliable performance in both traditional and contemporary settings.
